THE CAR USE.

The car has become an obvious and a more or less nessecary part of the modern way of life, and this is also the case in Arendal where the number of cars is increasing.  The cars give us a large degree of liberty concerning both where to go and when to go. But there are also negative consequenses:

 
Many environmental problems are due to the use og vehicles, for instance:

• Air pollution, both gases and dust.
• Accidents causes health problems.
• Noice problems.
• Valuable green areas are used aas roads.

TRAFFIC SECURITY.

The morning traffic security in Arendal was checked by counting 1000 cars with respect to:

• No use of headlights.
• One eyes headlights.
• Not using the safety belts.
• Too short distance to the car ahead.

Except for the 6 % who did not use safety belts, the results are acceptable.
