Issue Headline

This is an introductory page which users will reach after they have selected one of the ISSUEs under Physical Environment, Social Environment or External Impacts from the entry page. (Click here for the explanation of types of issues.)

This page provides an overview of ISSUE situation in The City, it highights only key facts and messages and then further guides users to deeper levels of the report where more detailed information about the ISSUE is presented from different angles. (The structure of the page follows the DPSIR framework.)

[What is the status of the ISSUE ?]

This part summarizes information showing to what extent the ISSUE is really a problem in the City, expressed in terms of e.g. air or water quality levels, crime rate, etc. (This part corresponds to the "S"part of the DPSIR framework.) You may want to only include a brief paragraph at this point to introduce the issue, one or two preview-size graphics with key trends or other indicators, or a related picture or photo, and after three or four sentences include a link to a separate "state.htm" page that will contain more detailed information.

(For External Impacts only, the "D-P" part described below may instead appear first on the page, whereas this "S-I"part follows next: see discussion of the DPSIR framework.)

[What is causing the problems ?]

This part contains information about main causes of problems related to the ISSUE and described above. This may be information about related human activities as such, e.g. the development of industry or transport, and/or about the ways these activities affect the ISSUE, e.g. through the emission of pollutants or the destruction of habitats. (This part corresponds to the "D-P" parts of the DPSIR framework.) Include here an introductory paragraph that leads to more detailed information on a separate pressure.htm page.

[Why is the ISSUE important ?]

This part summarizes information about secondary effects of the ISSUE on people, economy, and the environment, e.g. poor health or economic damage resulting from bad drinking water. (This corresponds to the "I"part of the DPSIR framework.) Include here an introductory paragraph that leads to more detailed information on a separate impact.htm page. (This part may also be skipped altogether if such information is not relevant for the ISSUE, or if it has already been presented above when talking about ISSUE status.)

[What is being done to fix the problems ?]

This part contains information about how different stakeholders take measures to improve situation related to this ISSUE, from raising awaraness by NGOs to introducing new taxes and laws. (This corresponds to the "R"part of the DPSIR framework.) Include here an introductory paragraph that leads to more detailed information on a separate response.htm page.
