MORE ABOUT WASTE TREATMENT IN ARENDAL.
Garbage is a result of our way of life.
Garbage comes from both production and
consumption. If not recycled, the garbage will not disappear, only be
removed.
The responsibility of the central government.
The central government must set the standards
for waste disposal and control that the municipalities follow the
regulations. The objectives can be found in the Parliament Report no.
44, 1991-92: The problem of waste disposal must be solved in such a way
that the damage for humans and the environment is as small as possible.
And at the same time waste treatment shall require as small resources as
possible from the society.
Toxic waste.
Toxic
waste shall not be treated together with household waste, since it can
be harmful to humans and the environment. The most common toxic waste
types are:
- oil, oil products, chemicals,
- paint, turpentine, printer’s ink, etc,
- batteries,
- long life light bulbs.
