WHAT CAUSES PROBLEMS FOR THE WATER SUPPLY?
The wind from industrial areas in England and Central-Europe brings
acid precipitation to Arendal and the rest of southern Norway. With the
hard ground, lack of lime and the thin layer of soil it’s not possible
to neutralize the acid rain.
Industrial spills and run-off from agriculture may also cause
problems, but these are small when Arendal is concerned.
In addition, the capacity problems (especially when it comes to
garden watering) and technical failure may create short supplying
difficulties.
