[How is the INSTRUMENT applied to solve environmental problems in the City?]
This part summarizes
information about the use of the INSTRUMENT to solve City
environmental problems. This includes both the environment-specific part of the
INSTRUMENT (e.g. only environmental part of legislation, education, etc.) and the concrete
results of its application which may be noticed through the positive changes of the State
of various environmental components (e.g. improved air or water quality), Pressures (e.g.
reduced emmission of pollutants), etc.
(This part corresponds to "D-P-S-I" and
the environment-specific part of "R" of the
DPSIR framework.)
Most consequences of the use of the INSTRUMENT for solving specific
environmental problems will likely be described in separate
environmentaland
sectoral
chapters of the report. Therefore presentation
here should rather concentrate on a summary of environmental
applications of the INSTRUMENT. Afterwards a user may be
referred to e.g. the Waste, Air Quality, Households and other chapters for
a more comprehensive description and discussion of specific applications.
Presentation on this page will normally consist of text, in some cases it may be complemented
by (preview) graphics such as trends, maps, diagrams etc. displaying
specific indicators.
For each indicator, a preview can be linked to a separate page
where a full-screen
graphic and information about this indicator are, ideally with links to
related data tables and sources of information.
It may be a challenge to reach here a balance between the amount of text and graphics
(not too much or too little of either), as well as to make sure that text and graphics are not separate
from each other but are used in a complementary way to explain each other.
At a later stage, a list of possible indicators for each INSTRUMENT
will be included into this tool to help
CEROI cities to select or develop their own indicators for their reports.
