 Motor transport

While the number of motor vehicles declined after 1991, some growth is recorded now: 84,000 vehicles were registered in 1998 and 90,000 in 1999. Every day over 30,000 non-resident transport vehicles enters the city. The number of environmentally appropriate transport vehicles (trolleybuses) is less than 200, of them not more than 160 come to their routes.            More than a quarter of total automobiles exploited have exhaust opacity and toxicity that exceed the standards. The percentage of individual automobiles having exhaust opacity and toxicity that exceed the standards is about 40%, and their number is twice as large.
