Air quality

What are the impacts of this issue

The unsatisfactory quality of atmospheric air is the main cause of the spread of respiratory organs diseases. If we consider the sickness incidence in the territorial aspect (the western and eastern contaminated zones and the southern zone, which is conditionally clean), according to the data of the Kyrgyz Research Institute of Prophylaxis and Medical Ecology, it is easy to reveal the influence of air quality on the population,s health. In the contaminated zones the number of recorded neoplasms, diseases of blood and haematogenous organs is 4.5-5 times bigger, to say nothing of respiratory organs diseases. The number of congenital anomalies in the contaminated zones is 2.4 times bigger than in the conditionally clean zone. Allergic diseases of respiratory organs are 2.1 times more widespread in the contaminated zones.

All those data are all the more alarming because the incidence of the above-mentioned diseases is considerably higher in Bishkek than in the republic on the whole.
