Information in this report relating to the South Industrial Basin was derived from "Noise pollution in Durban: an Exploratory Study prepared for the Durban South Basin Strategic Environmental Assessment, D Scott & K Jones (1998)". The study attempted to gather information on both community perceptions of noise and actual noise measurements in decibels from existing specialist studies in Environmental Impact Assessments. During the study it become clear that noise measured in a human metric was different from sound measured in a scientific metric. Additional information was also obtained from the Environmental Health Services of the local councils within the DMA as listed. For more information on Noise please contact:
