10c.jpg (25714 bytes)Annually, the city administration develops concrete measures in the frames of city's social development programme to fulfill State Ecological Programme of the Republic of Tajikistan, State Programme on Public Awareness and Education of the Republic of Tajikistan, as well as national legislation and other republican programmes.

This programme targeted on the environmentally sound social and economical development and restoration of urban environment. Furthermore, the mayor of city issues decrees and resolutions aimed at enhancing the environment and city economy.

In spring and autumn seasons, city administration fulfills concrete measures on the planting of greenery in Dushanbe. During off-season, city administration organizes public actions on scavenging, with participation of many volunteers. All bodies of city administration inspect condition of the city, and crucial problems regularly illustrated through TV and newspapers.

In the frames of the State Programme on Public Awareness and Education, city administration in conjunction with local governing institutions and NGOs organize children's games, trainings, and paintings among kindergartens and schools. Now, the Programme on public awareness and education on climate change is under development and discussion.

Regular session of deputies (Majlis) approved the Programme of Khukumat of Dushanbe for social and economic development in 2001. This programme aimed to creation of new jobs, development of small business, liquidation of poverty, accordance of privilege to small income families. Sport, culture, arts and education are highest priorities. City administration is going to draw the programme of reconstruction of housing and communal services, roads and city economies.

Apparently, development and implementation of city environmental programme and enhancing of the environmental monitoring network is the highest priority.

In year 2000, city administration has allocated above 148 thousand US dollars for improvement of city's environment. Ninety percent from that amount used for planting of greenery and accomplishment. About 12 thousand US dollars allocated for radiation safety works.
