What you can do!
On the individual level:
- To participate in the activities on restoration and
conservation of the urban environment;
- To obtain the knowledge about urban environment and be
familiar with environmental reports;
- To visit botanical gardens and zoo and bring up the children
to love their city, culture and environment;
- To be familiar with environmental legislation and
environmental programmes;
- To make sure rational use of water, electricity and natural
gas at home and in office;
- To separate waste by paper, metals, glass, etc.
- To contribute to the greenery plantation and flower gardening;
- To use only clean fuel for personal vehicles and maintain
proper condition of the motor-car;
- To purchase environmentally safe products and follow basic
hygienic rules;
- To inform city administration and nature protection
organizations about violation of the environmental laws;
- To apply to the city administration for improvement of the
urban environment in specific areas and districts.
On the public level:
- To participate in tidying up the streets, parks and
watercourses;
- To participate in public environmental expertise and
inspections;
- To organize green actions, participate in NGOs and share
environmental knowledge.
On the institutional level:
- To follow acting environmental legislation, decrees of the
Government and city administration;
- To introduce environmental certificates for all industries;
- To rationally use natural resources and energy;
- To introduce "GREEN OFFICE" initiative at your
office, particularly most efficient use of resources and minimization of environmental
pollution;
- To allocate necessary funds for improvement of the
environment;
- To care for green plantations and increase their area;
- To introduce new technologies and produce environmentally
friendly goods.
On the city level:
- To develop city environmental programme;
- To publish illustrated report about the state of the urban
environment in Tajik, Russian and English and distribute this among schools, universities,
industries, ministries, NGOs, etc.;
- To popularize environmental information;
- To establish the basis for operation of GIS, including
environmental mapping;
- To encourage the usage of environmentally safe vehicles and
clean production of goods;
- To fulfill specific measures to improve environmental
situation in transport, industrial sectors and city economy;
- To improve the efficiency of green plantations;
- To repair water-supply and sewerage systems;
- To make sure regular water quality control;
- To organize irrigation of main roads to decrease dust
formation;
- To control emissions from basic stationary and mobile
pollution sources;
- To operate the network of environmental control within main
roads;
- To promote the usage of conditioning and refrigerator systems
without ozone-depleting substances;
- To contribute to the development of electricity based
transport;
- To rise energy efficiency of residential and commercial
buildings;
- To reconstruct city zoo, open-air cages and plantations;
- To establish the relief fund to assist Dushanbe zoo, city
gardens, squares and parks;
- To restore historical monuments and buildings;
- To restore the fountains;
- To make sure availability of dustbins and proper maintenance
of the waste sites.
On the regional level:
- To exchange information on the state of the environment in
Tajikistan's and Central Asian cities;
- To show interest in international actions on environmental
conservation and protection.
