The development of automobile transportation is one of the causes of more intensive impact of transport on the environment during last decades. A significant increase of individual automobile transportation is recorded on public cross-town communications, on the basic communication system of the city as well as on local service roads.
The car transport increase has caused the overall slow-down of traffic and prolongation of the waiting time at high-traffic crossroads. This has a negative impact on the smoothness of the public transport (PT) and also on the environment. Higher consumption of fuel, noisiness, air pollution and car exhaust gases are connected with the slow-down of traffic. These are the basic factors of negative impacts of transport on the environment.
