The gene pool of important locations and ecologically important segments represent the contemporary state of the distribution of nature ecosystems and ecosystems of the town greenery of housing quarters. The above mentioned areal segments of greenery are supporting elements of ecological stability, therefore town biocentres and their line interconnections create a network of biocorridors. These are the part of the regional Territorial System of Environmental Stability of the town Košice and its surroundings. The most important elements of the system are part of the supraregional territorial system of environmental stability of Slovakia and of European ecological network EECONET. Conservation of these natural elements is the aim of activities of the institutions of nature protection in Slovakia.
