What are the impacts of this issue

The housing construction at the Dargovských hrdinov Housing Estate with the population exceeding 30,000, was implemented under very complex engineering geological conditions. Actions for the stabilization of slopes were taken during the construction of the housing estate, and continue until the present time.

Slope failures of the Hornád Slope also occur in the southeastern district of the city, near Vyšné Opátske and Krásna nad Hornádom, where they endanger mainly gardeners colonies.

The results of mapping the radon hazard in the Košice area have shown that 49.5% of the area is exposed to low, 48.5% to medium and 2.0% to high radon hazard originating from the geological subsoil.

Several fault systems are present in Košice and its surroundings. The most important Hornád Fault System is running directly across Košice. The maximum expected macro-seismic intensity of 7°MSK-64 and minimum 4.4°MSK-64 was determined for the Hornád Fault based on seismo-tectonic maps.
