Noise

What is being done to solve the problems

It is necessary to remove by successive steps the following problems, which causes excessive noisiness:

  • to build up the system of bypass roads (see graphical annex) out of the residential areas, and to reroute all transit freight and passenger transport (which only passes through the city), as well as all possible city mass transportation to these bypass roads,

  • to prefer municipal mass transportation – trolley-bus, tram and bus over automobile transport,

  • to create conditions for the development of cycling routes in the territory of the city and to recreational suburban districts; currently, the length of cycling routes is only 6.3 km long,

  • to build up the environmental network of mass transport – trolleys and trams; to reconstruct tramlines making them soundproof through planting lawn and plantings,

  • to build up the integrated transportation system – to improve coordination of all types of passenger mass transportation: bus transport, railway transport and municipal mass transport,

  • to build up the system of guarded parking places on main approach arteries towards the city and to ensure main platforms for mass transportation,

  • noise barriers are designed and constructed on heavily loaded roads directed in the contact with the built-up areas.
