Data obtained by monitoring profiles on creeks (small streams) has been provided by the Streams Subsidiary of Lesy hl. m. Prahy (the successor of PKVT). Data concerning the Vltava and the Berounka Rivers has been obtained from EHMÚ (Czech Hydrometeorological Institute) which collects data provided by various river management authorities.

    Drinking water quality monitoring

The drinking water quality is independently monitored by the Municipal Hygienic Institute of the City of Prague.

In addition to drinking water quality analyses conducted at the outputs of the Káraný, Podolí, and Zelivka Water Treatment Plants there are quality checks carried out using samples taken in water reservoirs and at consumers (in the supply system). In 1997 the samples were regularly taken at 170 permanent and the same number of variable sampling points throughout Prague’s water supply system, plus whenever there was a repair of or another operation involving the supply network.
