POLLUTION CAUSED BY CO-GENERATION STATIONS AND BOILER PLANTS

  CAUSES

1. Too numerous individual heating systems (in Mezaparks, Pardaugava, and elsewhere) where coal is used as fuel
2. Use at Riga's co-generation station TEC 2 of cheaper heavy oil instead of gas
3. Small-scale local boiler houses not connected to the district heating network and using fuel that does not meet environmental requirements and is not friendly to the environment

HEAT LOSSES IN THE HEAT NETWORKS AND BUILDINGS

  CAUSES

1. Poor insulation of buildings and heat networks; antiquated networks
2. Monopoly position of the company "Rigas Siltums" in heat production and supply
