2005) the preservation of nature as one of the priorities is set up.
Solutions are formulated in the City of Riga Environmental
Strategy
for 2000 - 2010
Based on the
Official Plan, a Policy document for the development of Riga
's land amelioration
systems was written in 1998 - 1999, and a Project for Forest
Management in the
Riga
City
-
in 1997. In 1998, plans were written for the protection of nature in
the Jaunciems and Vakarbulli Nature Protected
Areas
In 1995, a
tripartite agreement was concluded between the Swedish Environmental
Protection Agency (SEPA), the Latvian Ministry of Environmental
Protection and Regional Development and the Environmental Committee
of the Riga City Council. The agreement, implemented between 1995
and 1998, provided for the study and management of Daugavgriva and
Vecdaugava Nature Protected Areas
Since 1998 resources from the City`s
Investment and development funds were obtained to implement project
of reconstruction in several City territories: parks, gardens,
squares etc.
