 PROJECTS AND RESEARCHES

The development of specific projects and research should play an important role in the implementation of the Environmental Strategy. The Annex to the Strategy lists a range of projects and research proposals focussing on the resolving of the priority problems. The projects have been listed on the basis of the following principle:

  • Conceptual projects and environment management projects
  • Environment monitoring and information projects
  • Air quality improvement projects
  • Water quality improvement projects
  • Waste collection, processing and dumping projects.
  • Projects aimed at the preservation of biodiversity.
  • Environmental education projects.


The projects are prioritised as part of the Action Programme of the City of Riga Environmental Strategy.

An important issue is financing for the implementation of projects. In part, financing could be obtained from the Riga City Council budget or by asking the Riga City Council to co-finance projects or by seeking funding from the local, national and international funds.
