 Transport

POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE DEVELOPMENT TENDENCIES RELATED TO TRANSPORT

 POSITIVE DEVELOPMENT TENDENCIES

  • on working days, more than 55 % of people use public transport, 17,5 % - private cars
  • gradual replenishment of the public transport stock
  • gradual improvements at public transport stops, terminals and transfer points
  • gradual modernisation of the traffic-lights system and the traffic management centre
  • better quality of streets and roads
  • setting up of bicycling paths

 NEGATIVE DEVELOPMENT TENDENCIES

  • growing numbers of cars and traffic intensity
  • growing numbers of parked cars in the central part of the city
  • increased levels of pollution from cars
  • rapid decrease in size of greenery areas in the central part of the city
  • expansion of transport infrastructure (streets, parking lots, petrol stations) at the expense of green zones, recreational areas, residential houses, pedestrians and cyclists, creating an urban environment unhealthy to people, fragmented and unappealing
