By 1 January 1999 at the Tbilisi Employment Service the number of job seekers accounted has been  reduced 2.3 times in comparison with corresponding period of 1998, and increased in November by 1.5% compared with December, and 15644 persons are unemployed. Their number in comparison with relevant period of previous year has decreased 2.3 times, but increased by 13% compared with previous month. By preliminary data, officially registered unemployment rate constituted 9.3%.

61.5% of unemployed accounted are females, and 38.5% males. 27.2% of the unemployed are before 30.

By the situation for 1 January 1999 750 free working places have been accounted in employment service, which is 1.8 times more than corresponding date of previous year, and 41.2% more than previous year.

From the unemployed accounted at the employment service 427 persons or 2.7% of the unemployed accounted receive support. In comparison with corresponding period of previous year their number increased by 1.7%, and in December - by 2.4% than in November. In December the sum of support to be released, accounting per one receiver of support, has constituted by average 10.4 lari.
