KOHO/HUKI PROJECTS
KOHO was a project for 17-20
year old unemployed youth living in Turku for years 1996-98. It
developed co-operation with different administrations (social, youth
and health care). The project created a new structure to work with
young unemployed people in a very individual and innovative way
compared to the "normal" services by employment and social service
agencies.
The work was evaluated
constantly in two different ways, and the employees in the project
received the feedback monthly. Now (1999) the work is a part of the
city´s normal services.
The young people who neither
are working nor are at school receive an invitation to the project
team, coming is voluntary. The first part is health check-up, and
after that the young person gets an appointment time to see the
career-advisor. Individually tailored plans are done for each
participant, and guiding and advising to make them happen in
practice is the basis of the work.
